Merseyside (Hybrid Working)

An exciting Treasury & VAT Accountant opportunity has arisen to join a well-established forward-thinking Public Sector organisation on a permanent full time basis. My client is looking for an individual with existing Treasury & VAT experience who is looking for a role that they can shape and to add value to.

The Treasury & VAT Accountant will work closely with financial advisors and support all areas of Treasury and VAT functions, alongside the duties below;

Key responsibilities of the Treasury & VAT Accountant

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement effective financial controls and processes.
  • Pulling the VAT return together, analysing and interrogating this as appropriate
  • Prepare accurate financial reports, forecasts, and budgets for assigned teams, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Analyse financial data, identify trends and variances and provide insights to support decision-making processes.
  • Complete daily payments to the bank
  • Work closely with financial advisors

Required skills and experience of the Treasury & VAT Accountant

  • A recognised accountancy qualification / part qualification (CIPFA,ACA,ACCA,CIMA) or QBE
  • Extensive knowledge around treasury activating and placing funds
  • Money market knowledge
  • Previous public sector experience
  • Experience of applying technical accounting knowledge as part of financial management practices.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills
