Are you an experienced Design Manager with a passion for delivering transformative rail projects? My client is seeking a proactive and talented Freelance Design Manager to join their dynamic team for an exciting upcoming Rail Framework in the North West.

About the Role

As a Design Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating the design process for a range of rail infrastructure projects, including station upgrades and Access for All (AFA) schemes. These projects aim to improve accessibility, enhance passenger experience, and modernize critical transport hubs.

You'll work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to ensure designs are efficient, compliant, and delivered on time. Your expertise will help drive innovative solutions that meet both client expectations and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the design process across multiple rail projects.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, including Network Rail and local authority regulations.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and contractors to manage design approvals.
  • Lead design reviews, value engineering exercises, and risk assessments.
  • Oversee Access for All (AFA) schemes to deliver accessibility improvements.
  • Ensure timely delivery of designs to meet project schedules and budgets.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Design Manager in the rail sector.
  • Strong knowledge of station upgrades and accessibility (AFA) schemes.
