Halewood, Liverpool

Role Purpose:

The Site Contract Manager will be responsible for the management of all operational cleaning activities on the contract, including labour, plant and equipment operation and maintenance, financial and administrative duties for the Halewood site. They will lead, coach, mentor, and manage an established management team and a team of cleaning and waste operatives, as well as taking responsibility for recruitment and training of future employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage personnel (training, absence, disciplinary) through cleaning supervisors
  • Ensure all staff maintain safe working practices through implementation of Company and Health & Safety regulations
  • Manage all operational cleaning activities in order to ensure the timely delivery of services to a standard which meets and exceeds that required by the customer
  • Manage operational resources to ensure efficient working both as teams and as individuals, undertaking capacity and resource planning where appropriate
  • Monitor and report on profitability by measuring actual costs against budget, utilising visual management where appropriate
  • Drive continuous improvement to improve costs, quality, and services quantitatively and qualitatively both for the organisation and our customer
  • Oversee KPI reporting and ensure that reports are delivered to the agreed schedule
  • Ensure that cleaning operations are undertaken in a safe manner, with special focus on ensuring:
    • All necessary risk assessments and method statements are available
    • All current best practices are followed and shared
    • All necessary visual aids are available and used
  • Manage, develop, and motivate direct reporting staff
  • Ensure effective communication is provided either verbally or in writing to all members of staff
  • Endeavour to build and maintain effective client relationships, ensuring that the image of Leadec presented suitably represents the high standards required by the Company
  • Manage the client relationship and ensure a high level of service performance
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Company Human Resources processes, ensuring they are carried out correctly, and seeking support from, or providing support to, the HR team where appropriate
  • Ensure that all staff have the required competence to undertake their roles, providing the necessary training and development where appropriate, and maintaining accurate records of this training
  • Establish and maintain a clear understanding of customer quality standards and operate audit processes that ensure both customer and Leadec expectations are met

Reporting to the Regional General Manager, North, the Site Contract Manager will oversee 150+ employees over two shifts. They will be responsible for waste processing equipment such as balers, material handling equipment, and cleaning equipment. They will also deal with subcontractors and ensure proper dispatch of waste for disposal.

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

  • HNC or equivalent qualification
  • Proven management / supervisory background
  • History of customer-focused cleaning contract management
  • Sound understanding of the waste industry
  • Familiarity with working in a factory environment
  • Knowledge of applicable Health and Safety regulations and legislation
  • Computer literacy (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Experience of effectively handling customer queries and complaints
  • Aptitude for problem solving
  • Experience of planning provision of resources
  • Experience of cost controls
  • Proven ability to delegate
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines, multi-task, and re-prioritise work.
