The Property Credit Controller will play a crucial role in the Property Accounting & Finance team, ensuring accurate processing of rent and service charges, while also providing excellent customer service to tenants.

Description

Are you organised, proactive, and looking for a Property Credit Controller role where you will play a key part in keeping everything running smoothly while supporting tenants with their rent accounts.

If you love problem-solving and working with numbers, this is the role for you!

What you'll be doing:

  • Monitoring accounts: Keeping a close eye on accounts to spot any late or missing payments and making sure everything is up to date.
  • Chasing payments: Issuing reminders by email, letter, or phone to recover overdue payments and escalating where necessary.
  • Reconciliation: Identifying under/over payments, resolving discrepancies, and making sure accounts are accurate.
  • Excel & systems: Preparing rent schedules and reconciling accounts using Excel and our in-house property management system.
  • Tenant queries: Handling tenant queries about their rent over the phone, by email, or letter, and logging everything on our system.
  • Managing arrears: Dealing with arrears correspondence and ensuring it's all followed up efficiently.
  • Legal notices: Serving legal notices when needed and managing the process through to completion, including preparing for hearings and attending court if necessary.
  • Payment reconciliation: Identifying unallocated payments and posting daily rent charges.
  • Debt management support: Assisting tenants with debt issues and working closely with the finance team to keep everything on track.

Profile

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Experience in a similar role as a Property Credit Controller, or experience in chasing rent arrears
  • Pays close attention to detail and takes a responsible approach
  • Is confident managing their own workload and dealing with landlords and tenants
  • Has an excellent telephone manner
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Can work proactively both independently and as part of a team
  • Can prioritise tasks, working quickly and accurately to meet deadlines
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen, build rapport, and handle complex issues calmly and professionally.
