ASD Teaching Assistant - SEND School in Southport

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced ASD Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEND school in Southport. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them to thrive in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) on a one-to-one and small group basis.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering lessons, ensuring that students are engaged and progressing.
  • Foster an environment of inclusivity and emotional wellbeing for students with ASD.
  • Help students develop social and communication skills, promoting independence where possible.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff, including SENCOs, to ensure the needs of each student are met effectively.
  • Assist with personal care and other tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is essential.
  • A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Ability to implement behaviour management strategies effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience in SEND education is highly desirable, though not essential.
  • A DBS check or willingness to undertake one (Tradewind can assist with this).
  • A relevant qualification in Special Education (such as a Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent) is beneficial but not mandatory.
