About the Role:A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Huyton is seeking a dedicated Reception Teaching Assistant to join their team from Monday 7th October 2024. This role focuses on supporting children in the Reception class, helping to create a nurturing and engaging environment that encourages early development and a love of learning.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Reception teacher, providing hands-on support to young learners and contributing to their academic, social, and emotional growth in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Reception teacher in planning and delivering engaging and creative activities that align with the EYFS framework.
  • Supporting children through play-based learning to develop key skills in areas such as literacy, numeracy, and social interaction.
  • Offering one-on-one and small group support to pupils, ensuring each child's individual needs are met and fostering their early development.
  • Helping to create and maintain a welcoming, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and supporting the social and emotional well-being of the children by fostering an inclusive and caring classroom atmosphere.
  • Assisting in the observation and assessment of pupils' progress, providing feedback to the teacher to aid in planning and development.
  • Supporting children with additional needs to ensure they receive the guidance and encouragement necessary to reach their full potential.
  • Supervising children during playtimes, lunchtimes, and other school activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young children, ideally within a Reception or Early Years (EYFS) setting.
  • A patient, caring, and enthusiastic approach to supporting young learners.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) is desirable but not essential.
  • A strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum and early childhood development.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, in line with the school's policies.
