We are hiring on behalf of a growing and dynamic business in the surveying and drainage industry. This organisation offers a collaborative and forward-thinking environment, and they are seeking a Finance Manager to join their central finance hub, supporting both their core business operations and a secondary division.This is a key position reporting directly to the Finance Controller, where you will be responsible for driving efficiencies, improving financial processes, and managing day-to-day finance operations. With a focus on cost management, balance sheet reconciliation, and month-end reporting, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth financial operation of the business.About the RoleAs Finance Manager, you will:
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliation, pre-payments, and sales accruals.
  • Take responsibility for month-end reporting, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Manage the Profit & Loss (P&L) and assist with cash flow and budgeting.
  • Support process improvements and drive efficiencies within the finance function.
  • Lead the Finance Assistant, providing guidance on day-to-day tasks.
  • Work closely with the Finance Controller to ensure accurate and effective reporting.
  • Occasionally travel to the secondary site to support a related business function.
  • Ensure that financial operations run smoothly on a daily basis, with a focus on cost-based finance responsibilities.
What We’re Looking ForThe ideal candidate will have:
  • A strong background in financial management with experience in cost-based finance.
  • Hands-on experience with balance sheet reconciliation, month-end reporting, and P&L management.
  • A solid understanding of budgeting and cashflow management.
  • Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to process improvements.
  • Ideally, you will have an AAT qualification, or be part-qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Previous experience managing or supporting a small finance team is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • The role requires occasional travel between sites, so a valid driving licence is essential.
