MLK Education Search is excited to support this consistently outstanding Nursery School in the heart of Liverpool to secure an experienced Finance Manager who will take on a term-time only, contract as soon as possible. The contract will equate to 21 hours / 3 days per week with contracted hours between 8.30 and 4. There may also be an option for an additional day from home, and a full-time, permanent contract from September for the right person.

The school has consistently retained it's Outstanding ratings on five previous occasions and is one of only 18 settings who to form part of the DfE's initiative to support Early Years practice across the North West of the country.

Due to a retirement in July of this year, the need has arisen for a Finance Manager to join the Nursery and shadow the current incumbent to provide a solid handover, ahead of a full-time, permanent role from September 2025.

Main Purpose of Job

Under the direction of the Headteacher and Head of Centre, and in line with the standards and requirements of Ofsted, the DfE, the Local Authority and the School Financial Value Standard (SFVS), the Finance Manager will be responsible for:

  • Financial Management including funding through grants and other streams
  • Administration
  • Human Resources

Key Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant field related to Finance and Accounting
  • Successful experience as a Finance/Business Manager within an education setting
  • Prior experience within a Nursery or Children's Centre would desirable
  • Use of Arbor Finance or similar management systems (e.g. SIMS) is highly desirable.
