We're working with a well-established organisation that's looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join them on a fixed-term contract for around 3 months. It's a hands-on role where you'll take the lead on both monthly and 4-weekly payrolls, making sure everything is delivered accurately and on time. You'll also oversee a Payroll Officer and work closely with the HR and Finance teams to keep everything running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the accurate and timely delivery of payrolls (monthly & 4-weekly)
* Oversee starters, leavers, and payroll changes alongside HR
* Ensure full compliance with payroll legislation (SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.)
* Liaise with HMRC, pension providers, and other regulatory bodies
* Support with reconciliations, reporting, and audit preparation
* Supervise and guide the Payroll Officer
* Maintain and improve systems and templates (SAGE)
* Oversee pensions, auto-enrolment, and re-enrolment processes
* Keep processes compliant and up to date
About You:
* Previous experience running end-to-end payroll
* Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and pensions
* Confident using SAGE and spreadsheets
* Experience supervising or mentoring others in a payroll environment
* Proactive, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator
* A payroll qualification or equivalent experience would be a bonus
