Job Title: Industrial Process Technician

Position Summary: We are seeking a multi-skilled Industrial Process Technician to join our client's team. Reporting to the Shift Coordinator, you will operate all parts of the plant process, including testing products and loading tankers for customer deliveries. This role ensures maximum efficiency while maintaining safety, environmental, food safety, and quality standards. The position operates on a 12-hour shift rota, working both days and nights.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate all parts of the plant process to optimise production efficiency.
  • Conduct fault finding throughout the process and implement solutions.
  • Operate ancillary operations including boilers, crude tank farm, effluent plant, and compressors.
  • Perform product quality testing both in-process and for finished products, logging results into the LIMS and producing certificates of analysis as required.
  • Manage customer blends efficiently and ensure tanker inspection procedures and documentation are completed in line with customer requirements.
  • Ensure safety procedures are adhered to and participate in improving and developing procedures, including risk assessments and safety inspections.
  • Meet environmental objectives and work to minimise the operation's environmental impact.
  • Ensure all food safety and quality requirements are met, continually improving systems through internal audits and plant inspections.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards by following specific cleaning schedules and self-inspecting plant conditions.
  • Complete all documentation accurately as required by site procedures.
  • Use a computerised maintenance management system to log any faults on the plant.
  • Take responsibility for first-line problem-solving throughout the entire refinery operation and subsequent troubleshooting and escalation.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as needed, with training provided to develop necessary skills.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Educated to "A" level / HNC standard in Chemistry or Science subjects or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the food or process industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of liquids/chemical processing and associated equipment (e.g., pumps, vacuum systems, filtration).
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems and process automation.
  • Structured fault-finding skills and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with business/quality systems and/or knowledge of HACCP.
  • High standards for oneself and others.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience in carrying out risk assessments.
  • Working knowledge of COSHH legislation.
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering experience.
