Quality Assurance Officer with experience working in food manufacturing with BRCGS food safety standard in place required in the chemical industry based in Liverpool city centre

Reporting directly to Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Officer role is critical in supporting the technical department to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety.

The successful candidate will support the Quality Assurance Manager in ensuring that food safety and quality standards are maintained across multiple sites. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in food safety or a related field, exceptional organisational skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities as the Quality Assurance Officer :

Documentation Management:

  • Maintain, update, and generate technical documents, including Product Specifications, Product Statements and Certificates of Analysis.
  • Support in the maintenance of supplier approval documentation.
  • Ensure technical documentation is accurate, current, and compliant with appropriate regulatory/certification standards (e.g., BRCGS, ISO9001, RSPO, Kosher, Halal, etc.).
  • Prepare technical documentation for customers as required.
  • Manage and update technical databases and information systems.

Technical Support:

  • Respond to internal and external technical inquiries regarding product specifications, usage, and safety.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers to provide technical documentation and resolve product-related issues.
  • Coordinate with the sales and logistics teams to provide technical support during order fulfilment processes.

Quality Assurance:

  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of quality assurance procedures.
  • Document, investigate and report non-conformities in accordance with the QMS.
  • Conduct Internal Audits for BRCGS and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
  • Be actively involved in site audits from customers and certification/accreditation bodies.

Required education:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science/biological science or a related scientific field. Relevant work experience and qualifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience required:

  • Previous experience working in a similar position is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of food safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
