Job Overview:

We are seeking a Housing Officer to oversee and maintain accommodation standards for vulnerable individuals within the healthcare sector. This role involves ensuring safe, compliant, and supportive living environments for residents, working closely with health and social care teams, regulatory bodies (CQC/OFSTED), and external agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

Property Management & Compliance

  • Conduct regular property inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety, CQC, and OFSTED standards.
  • Manage the onboarding and withdrawal of properties, ensuring they meet healthcare accommodation requirements.
  • Identify, report, and coordinate property maintenance and repairs promptly.
  • Administer operational cash (e.g., topping up utility meters, processing emergency payments).
  • Maintain accurate records of property issues, maintenance logs, and compliance reports.

Resident Support & Safeguarding

  • Support residents in maintaining safe and healthy living conditions.
  • Respond to and resolve resident concerns, complaints, and tenancy-related issues.
  • Work closely with health and social care teams to support individuals with medical, safeguarding, or mental health needs.
  • Handle sensitive cases involving domestic abuse, substance misuse, and mental health issues, ensuring appropriate referrals and interventions.
  • Ensure the housing service operates in compliance with Quality Standards (if applicable).
  • Assist clients with registering for housing benefits, utility bills, and council tax.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with external agencies, local authorities, healthcare providers, and social workers to coordinate resident support.
  • Assist in managing anti-social behaviour, safeguarding concerns, and conflict resolution.
  • Participate in an on-call system to handle housing emergencies as needed.

Skills & Experience Required:

Experience in housing management, social care, or supported accommodation.Strong knowledge of housing regulations, health & safety compliance, and safeguarding practices.Ability to work with vulnerable groups, including individuals with mental health issues, disabilities, and complex needs.Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and communication skills.Ability to work autonomously and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in MS Office and housing management systems.A full UK driving licence (required for property visits and resident support).Ability to pass a DBS (Criminal Record) check.
