SEND Learning Support Assistant

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a variety of SEND schools in Liverpool on a supply basis. This vital role is focused on supporting students with special educational needs, helping them overcome challenges and reach their full potential in an inclusive and supportive educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with SEND, both in and outside the classroom.
  • Use tailored teaching methods, visual aids, and SEND-specific strategies to improve student learning and engagement.
  • Create a positive and inclusive environment that fosters independence, social interaction, and emotional well-being.
  • Track and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, SENCOs, and parents.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a consistent and effective approach to student development.
  • Support students in developing social skills, managing sensory sensitivities, and adjusting to school routines.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs as necessary, ensuring the dignity and comfort of each student.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on best practices in SEND education.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and support activities.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience working with children or young people with SEND in a school or similar setting.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND-specific teaching strategies and approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the growth and well-being of students with SEND.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work well as part of a team to adapt to the changing needs of students and the school environment.
