SEN Science Teacher- Speke

Milk Education are recruiting for a purpose-driven, qualified SEN Teacher with a passion for Science to join an exceptional secondary SEN school in L24. This is to work on a long-term basis starting as soon as possible!

You’ll be joining an inclusive and supportive school, focused on diversity and promoting a loving academic environment for those with additional needs.

This is an exciting role for an experienced educator to join a fantastic school to support pupils in reaching their potential!

What You’ll Be Doing in the Role:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver science lessons tailored to the specific needs of students with SEN, incorporating sensory-based and therapeutic activities.
  • Create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCO, support staff, therapists, and parents.
  • Support students with a range of complex needs, including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and severe communication challenges.
  • Utilize various communication methods, such as Makaton, PECS, and sensory story-telling, to engage students and promote participation.
  • Assist with personal care tasks as required, working closely with teaching assistants to ensure students’ physical and emotional well-being.
  • Regularly assess student progress and adjust teaching approaches, ensuring each child receives individualized support and achieves measurable growth.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent,
  • Experience working with children in an SEN / SEMH setting.
  • Knowledge of specialized communication strategies, sensory integration, and therapeutic techniques suitable for students with PMLD.
  • Strong passion for science.
  • Strong understanding of SEN and complex needs.
  • Compassionate, patient, and adaptable, with a commitment to nurturing each student’s potential.
