Family Support Worker


22500 - 23,500 pro rata

21 hrs per week, Monday to Friday
1 year (extension subject to funding)

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Support Worker to join our team and support new and expectant mothers who are victims of domestic abuse, along with their unborn or new born children. Your role will involve ensuring their safety, providing emotional and practical support, and developing tailored safety and support plans to assist families in need.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for mothers and children in refuge.
  • Work with families to create and implement safety and support plans.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners such as health, safeguarding teams, police, and housing.
  • Provide emotional support to mothers and help families transition from refuge to the community.
  • Assist with housing and financial applications and ensure the refuge is maintained to high standards.

Essential Requirements:

  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on families.
  • Good communication skills and experience working with vulnerable individuals.
  • Full UK driver's license and ability to use your own car for work.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.
