Job Title: Quality Controller

Department: HSEQ

Location: Llantrisant (with occasional travel to other locations, including customer sites in the UK and overseas)

Reporting To: Manufacturing Manager

Salary: Dependant on Experience

Role Overview:

Nicholas Associates is recruiting for a Quality (LLT) & Compliance Lead to join a leading manufacturing company. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all products are manufactured and packed according to strict quality specifications. The role requires close collaboration with suppliers, internal departments, and customers to inspect products and manage associated documentation, ensuring products meet quality standards at every stage of the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to strict Health & Safety guidelines and company standards on safety.
  • Inspect parts and products according to the relevant documentation before progressing to the next stage of production.
  • Develop and improve work instructions, part inspection specifications, and other necessary documentation in collaboration with the quality team and production leaders.
  • Maintain records of inspection and test results and ensure they are easily accessible and transparent.
  • Report and manage non-conforming or defective parts/products using the non-conformance system.
  • Investigate causes of non-conformance and collaborate with relevant departments to implement corrective actions.
  • Review quality records generated by production to ensure standards are met and escalate issues where necessary.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and workshops.
  • Work with suppliers to address quality issues and performance concerns.
  • Contribute to internal and external quality audits.
  • Assist in training other team members on inspection methods.

Qualifications Required:

  • Certificate / Level 3 NVQ in Engineering or Inspection/Testing (or willingness to work towards).
  • Train the Trainer skills training (or willingness to work towards within 3 months).
  • Welding Inspection Certificate (or willingness to work towards).

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years within a manufacturing/engineering environment.
  • Experience working with ISO 9001 and other industry quality management standards.
  • Experience raising and following up on non-conformances.
  • Experience handling quarantined parts/products.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience setting up inspection and test protocols.
  • Experience working with welding procedures and non-destructive testing methods.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong organisational and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Innovative thinker with the ability to think laterally.
  • Ability to work to agreed targets and timescales.
  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
