The Role

Reporting to Fractional CFOs and Finance Directors, the Senior Accountant will support a portfolio of 8+ clients, overseeing their month-end close and reporting processes. Key responsibilities include owning the balance sheet, handling reconciliations, prepayments, and accruals, preparing management commentary, and driving process improvements.

You'll also have the opportunity to mentor junior accountants, gaining valuable management and leadership experience.

This role is ideal for a part-qualified accountant looking to fast-track their career by working across multiple finance functions. Strong communication skills, the ability to manage multiple clients, and a curious, ambitious mindset are essential.

Clear pathways to progression-potentially leading to Finance Director roles-are available, supported by ongoing training and development.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team of 8 accountants to manage multiple client accounts
  • Oversee month-end close activities (accruals, prepayments, journals, reconciliations, VAT returns)
  • Take full ownership of clients' balance sheets
  • Review corporation tax and statutory accounts
  • Provide management commentary
  • Liaise with clients, offering financial insights and recommendations
  • Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies
  • Mentor and support junior accountants
  • Handle ad hoc tasks to support Finance Directors and CFOs

What we need to see (essential):

  • Part-Qualified (ACA/ACCA)
  • 2-3 years experience in an accounting or finance role (practice or industry)
  • Automation system experience (ex. Dext or similar)
