Interim Programme Accountant - Safety Valve Programme
Location: North London/Hybrid
Rate: 575 per day (Umbrella)

A North London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Programme Accountant to join their finance team on an interim basis. This exciting opportunity involves supporting the oversight and management of financial benefits within the Safety Valve Programme.
Role Responsibilities As a Programme Accountant, your key duties will include:
  • Ensuring project deliverables relating to finance and performance metrics are met, in line with the Council's submission to the Department for Education (DfE).
  • Providing financial oversight and assurance to senior leaders across the Council regarding the programme's financial benefits.
  • Collaborating with the Safety Valve Steering Group and SEND Leadership Team to ensure financial and project objectives are achieved.
  • Conducting financial due diligence to monitor the programme's financial progress, ensuring alignment with Council and Government submissions.
  • Developing and implementing appropriate financial metrics to ensure consistent financial monitoring and evaluation across the programme.
  • Producing Highlight Reports to clearly identify and communicate financial benefits to senior leaders.
Key Requirements The successful candidate will possess:
  • A CCAB qualification (or equivalent).
  • In-depth knowledge of financial metrics related to programme and/or project management methodologies.
  • A strong understanding of risk management techniques and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in effective programme delivery within a public sector/local government environment, engaging with multiple stakeholders.
  • A proven ability to work in a complex organisational setting, providing clear financial assurance and supporting strategic decision-making.
