We are seeking a well experienced Practice Accountant to join our small, local accountancy practice. This role is ideal for someone who is possibly looking for a role to settle down in for the remainder of their career. The successful candidate will work directly under the supervision of the firm's owner, contributing to a varied portfolio of clients and helping to improve processes through fair automation.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage and maintain the accounting records for a diverse portfolio of clients.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports for client businesses.
  • Handle bookkeeping, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
  • Assist with tax preparation and filing for clients, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
  • Provide advisory services to clients on financial strategies and planning.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance accounting procedures and initiate process improvements.
  • Engage in regular client meetings to discuss financial matters and provide updates.
  • Support the owner in managing workload due to staff shortages, ensuring continuous service delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Accountant or Qualified by Experience (QBE) in a similar role.
  • Experience in a small practice is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work under supervision and collaborate with a small team.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and experience in automating processes.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
