Job Title: Accountant Contract Duration: 12th May 2025 – 28th June 2026Hours: 35 hours per weekRate: £28.15 per hour (£51,371 per annum)Location: Home-BasedAbout the Role:Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CCAB-qualified Accountant to manage a financial support team for a nominated service department. The successful candidate will provide expert financial support and advice for medium and long-term financial planning, including capital and revenue budget preparation and monitoring.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the financial support team, ensuring effective service delivery.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to support medium- and long-term planning for the nominated service department.
  • Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and management of capital and revenue budgets.
  • Offer financial performance reporting and support service reviews, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Support the Finance Manager in key corporate finance services such as tax management, financial accounting (including year-end accounts), treasury management, and asset management.
  • Contribute to corporate objectives and participate in cross-service working groups and Best Value Review teams.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of Service/Business Plans.
  • Champion equality and inclusion in service provision and employment.
Essential Requirements:
  • CCAB-qualified Accountant with relevant experience.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with professional body requirements.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in financial planning and budgetary control.
  • Ability to provide strategic financial advice and contribute to corporate objectives.
  • Experience in financial performance reporting and supporting efficiency improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
