Responsibilities:
As an Accountant, your role will be crucial in maintaining accurate financial records for the company. You will maintain financial ledgers for each entity, ensuring up-to-date records are in place. Your responsibilities will also include posting weekly cashbook entries, preparing monthly bank reconciliations, raising sales invoices, and assisting with the preparation of quarterly management accounts. You will also play a key role in promoting finance system improvements and liaising with managing agents. Additionally, you will manage internal cash transfers and set up ad hoc payments on banking platforms.
- Maintain and control financial ledgers for each entity
- Post weekly cashbook entries and prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Raise sales invoices and prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly management accounts and year-end procedures
- Liaise with Asset Management team to ensure leasing activity is reflected in accounts
- Promote finance system improvements and liaise with managing agents
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns and organise payments/reconciling receipts
- Manage internal cash transfers and set up ad hoc payments on banking platforms
- Assist in review and implementation of internal control improvements
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this Accountant role will bring proficient Excel skills, including proficiency in PIVOT tables, VLOOKUPs and other basic formulae. You should have excellent prioritisation and time management skills, as well as a proactive approach to anticipating queries and flagging issues. An understanding of transactional details is essential, but you should also be able to take a step back and view the bigger picture. Confidence in discussing finance matters across all levels within the finance team and wider business is crucial. A demonstrable track record of taking responsibility for day-to-day finance/accounting transactions is also required.
