Commercial Accountant

Location: Leatherhead, Surrey

Salary: £55,000/yr - £60,000/yr

Reporting to the Head of Project Finance, this is a pivotal role in understanding the financial mechanics of the business, driving profitability, and supporting decision-making across departments.

This role focuses on commercial finance, combining technical expertise with strategic insight to optimise project delivery and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Become an expert in finance systems, supporting the finance, commercial, and marketing teams in their use.

  • Assist Finance Managers with cost reconciliations and ensure cost-to-come allowances are accurate.

  • Analyse site strategies and key drivers across multiple developments.

  • Provide scenario analysis to evaluate the financial impact of strategic decisions.

  • Collaborate with sales teams to optimise sales and marketing strategies using market research and sales targets.

  • Prepare and update site stacks, board papers, and financial forecasts.

  • Support central finance functions during half-year and year-end reporting.

  • Ensure the accuracy of VAT charges, commissions, legal fees, and completion statements.

  • Maintain accurate site cash flow and profit forecasts.

  • Share financial insights with project teams to inform decision-making.

Skills:

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong system learning capabilities

  • A driven, innovative individual who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Interest in the construction or real estate development industry.
