External Audit File Reviewer – Homebased

Location: UK Remote with UK travel

Job Purpose, Tasks, and Responsibilities

As our File Reviewer you will be responsible for performing rigorous, objective file reviews to help accountancy firms adhere to regulatory standards.

In addition to reviewing, you’ll collaborate with our Product team to share technical insights, support product development decisions, and help integrate client-focused solutions across Sales and Marketing.

As our File Reviewer, you will:

  • Assume responsibility for performing high quality independent and objective file reviews to evaluate accountancy practices' compliance with regulatory standards. Undertaking those reviews in the medium and location as has been determined to best suit the client and achieve Mercia's strategic direction. 
  • Work closely with and support our Product team. This includes contributing to the technical, client and competitor intelligence used to make Product decisions and liaising with the Product Director and Managers when updating or creating a product to ensure that client needs are met, and product solutions can be iterated to our Sales and Marketing teams. 
  • Be a brand advocate for Mercia.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • ACA qualification or equivalent, with substantial post-qualification experience
  • Expertise in external audit, accounts, and compliance regulation
  • Ability to travel within the UK as needed
  • Commercial awareness of the UK accounting profession
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage with clients and colleagues effectively
  • Project management and organizational skills
  • Experience reviewing audit files or compliance work (preferable)

To be successful in this role, it would be great if you also have:

  • A high degree of research skills to stay current with regulatory changes
  • A talent for translating technical information into client-friendly insights
