Financial Controller (Interim)

What you'll do:

As the Interim Financial Controller, you will be at the heart of our finance team, providing key subject matter leadership to guide the team in its statutory reporting requirements. You will have the opportunity to shape effective controllership framework improvements, liaise with external and internal auditors, banks, and third parties. Your role will also involve preparatory work in advance of board meetings, most notably the Audit and Risk Committee. Your exceptional technical financial accounting skills will be crucial in ensuring the efficient delivery of our financial management capabilities.

  • Demonstrate significant expertise in financial reporting standards (FRS) and their application to UK Charities
  • Lead work to implement robust checks and balances on accounts preparation
  • Provide guidance and recommendation of accounting implications for new initiatives/business cases
  • Review current financial and accounting policies for continuous improvement opportunities
  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of month end and year close
  • Manage working capital including day-to-day relationship with bankers

  • Qualified accountant (ideally ACA or CIMA) with significant experience as a finance leader or senior Financial Controller
  • Exceptional technical financial accounting and tax skills
  • Strong leadership skills with experience leading and developing a team
  • Proactive individual with a clear focus on achievement and task completion
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding customer service skills
