We are seeking a Financial Accountant responsible for the accurate recording of accounting entries and producing the Charity’s subsidiary financial statements. This role includes oversight of VAT and Corporation tax returns and the development and implementation of all financial systems.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Produce subsidiary accounts and support the production of consolidated accounts, providing technical expertise on accounting standards.
  • Prepare and submit group quarterly VAT returns within statutory deadlines and lead the relationship with external tax advisors.
  • Administer the investment portfolio, grant, scholarship programmes, and fund accounting processes.
  • Produce reconciliations for the Charity, including group intercompany balances, and review age debtors and creditors reports.
  • Maintain and develop financial systems, ensuring user training and process documentation, and maintain the chart of accounts.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, controls, systems, and procedures to ensure efficient management of finances and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Oversee National Statistic Office and other regulatory reports, bank and investment accounts, and staff and membership expense systems.
  • Lead on payroll, pensions, and intercompany payments reconciliation and oversee fixed assets accounting and cash flow monitoring.
Management:
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the team, including performance reviews and appraisals.
  • Support the Finance Administrator through the apprenticeship programme, providing mentorship.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience with reporting and consolidation responsibility for a group.
  • Staff management experience in a multi-site and/or hybrid working environment.
  • Professional certification – ACA /ACCA or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to influence and engage with a wide range of people.
  • Problem-solving skills with commercial acumen and intellectual curiosity.
  • A self-starter with initiative and drive to deliver results.

  • Familiarity with Dynamics 365 Business Central is advantageous.
