Financial Controller - investment management

Our client is a closed end fund specialising in investing in equity and debt special situations. They are rapidly evolving into a mid-market fund and are in the process of closing their third fund. This milestone has necessitated the need to recruit a high calibre, ambitious Financial Controller to support the CFO.

You will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insight on financial performance.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with external auditors and co-ordinate the audit process.
  • Monitor and manage cashflow.
  • Develop cash management strategies to optimise financial resources.
  • Oversee tax planning, liaise with external tax experts as required.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Implement best practice in financial management.
  • Team leadership and development.
  • Project work. For example, leading a project to bring the entire finance function in house; implementing and developing new systems, processes, controls, people etc.; at present they use an outsourced accounting provider for transactional activity, FCA reporting etc.

Your profile:

  • Possessing top tier academics, you will be a qualified Accountant (ACA preferred) with financial leadership experience gained within Investment Management (a strong knowledge of funds, tax strictures etc.).
  • Multijurisdictional experience would be beneficial.
  • Able to demonstrate ambition, proactivity, and curiosity, you must have a high attention to detail and possess the ability to work autonomously.
  • You must be a decisive and clear communicator with excellent presentation skills.

Hybrid working

Salary: £100,000-£120,000 + bonus (20-30%) + carried interest
