We are delighted to be working with a charity based in North West London who is seeking a part or fully qualified accountant with previous experience in the charity sector. You will be reporting to the Director of Finance and play a key role in the finance team. Duties will include timely preparation of the monthly management accounts including consolidating the UK and international accounts.

You will help with budget setting & cash flow preparation and reporting, and be required to prepare the year end Group consolidation and Statutory Accounts along with the Finance Director. The role includes other ad hoc finance tasks as and when required. Finally, you will be adept at working across departments to understand their financial reporting requirements and be able to interrogate their varying systems and databases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership Input
  • Provide sound advice on all legislative and regulatory requirements for the Group
  • Financial analysis as requested by the Finance Director or CEO
  • Day-to-day contact with banks, auditors, regulators, payroll providers, pension schemes and consultants.
  • Ensure appropriate risk management techniques and financial controls are being implemented throughout the Group at the operational level
  • Ensure the Group is aware of its accountability to its stakeholders and that all relationships are managed, monitored, and considered in the development of the Group
  • Ensure the financial systems across the organisation are fit for purpose, to provide accurate and timely information, as required both internally and externally
  • Preparation of audit schedules and support with group consolidation
  • Ensure financial policies and best practice procedures are developed, written and communicated to all staff
  • Produce monthly management accounts by the tenth working day of the following month
  • Ensure the provision of statutory accounts with a clean audit report annually
  • Ensure the Group is aware of its accountability to its stakeholders and that all relationships are managed, monitored, and considered in the development of the Group

Personal attributes:

  • Part Qualified or Fully Qualified
  • Good working knowledge of reporting requirements and regulations for Charity and SORP reporting is essential
  • Experience in preparation of Group Statutory & Management Accounts and essential
  • Experienced in Xero accounting package
  • Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Team player with experience in staff management
  • Excellent organisational and prioritising skills, able to manage multiple tasks with exceptional attention to detail.

Please note that this role is predominantly office based from 9 am to 5.30 pm from Monday to Friday. However, there might be the option of WFH occasionally.
