Financial Controller role available at city law firm. The firm has a global reach and this role will be the lead for London and Jersey. As the Financial Controller, you will take a very hands on role with all of the accounts preparation, management and financial accounting, yearend audit, oversight of the finance operations team alongside the Finance Manager, and will be the face of finance for the London fee earners and partners.They are wanting to secure someone who is qualified (ACCA/ACA) with significant law firm experience to take ownership for their offices in London and Jersey.
- Preparation of monthly group management accounts and yearly financial statements
- Coordination of the firm's annual budget and forecasts, and presentation to the management committee
- Coordination of reporting on financial performance, profitability, revenue, statutory, tax and regulatory reporting and filings
- Implementation of working capital strategies, cash flow forecasting and cost saving initiatives
- Management of a transactional team; Management of the firm's billing process
- Management of financial and operational projects
- Support the development and execution of Finance Strategy and ensure alignment with the overall strategic objectives of the law firm
Experience needed:
- A qualified accountant who holds one of the following designations (CPA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA or ACCA), with a minimum of 8 years PQE
- Experience working at Financial Controller level or equivalent
- Proven experience overseeing a finance function taking a lead role
- Finance and operations experience are essential with strong technical knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, global transfer pricing regulations, local taxation
- Proven track record of increasing profitability and reducing working capital, in addition to practical experience of delivering strategic objectives in a major international law firm or top tier accountancy firm
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills are necessary, as is the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
