Role: Financial Controller

VisionFR is delighted to be working with an outstanding Educational Consultancy and Home- Schooling Business - approx. 20 people - to find them a Financial Controller who will be an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). They will be responsible for the delivery of the finance function (with support from two Finance Assistants) whilst also business partnering with the SLT to provide forward thinking strategic & commercial advice.
They will have strong communication skills and be able to offer sound financial advice and direction across all departments working with the Board , the consultants and Tutors to build their commercial/finance acumen. The candidate will be a bright and dynamic individual who will themselves have a strong academic history to include a good degree from a Russell Group University and have experience of liaising with high-net-worth individuals. The Candidate should also have a good understanding of working with the operations delivery team as this could develop as part of the role. Ideally the candidate will also have a passion for education and have great communication skills.
The duties of the Financial Controller will include but not be limited to:
Management and Year-End accounts
- Monthly reporting pack including
o P&L plus variance analysis
o Client/project profitability
o Team/resource metrics & KPIs e.g. utilisation & fees per head
- Year-end accounts including
o Accounts preparation and analysis
o Audit management
- Evolving the Management Information content
- Ensuring appropriate accounting and management information systems are in place
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Departmental and company wide
- Annual budgets and monthly/quarterly reforecasts
- P&L, revenues & cashflow
- Ensure cash collection policies are in place to ensure cash is maximised within the business.
Client and Suppliers
- Liaise with Clients
- Liaise and negotiate on Contracts with Suppliers
- Ensure the company is run as commercially as possible
Team Working
- Partner with Heads of Department to help delivery of objectives
- Partner with Business Development team on new business targets and tracking
- Lead Finance Team to ensure delivery, performance management and mentoring
Board
- Create long term business and financial strategy
- Presenting monthly results to board
- Business partner with the owner
- Ensure the board are supported with accurate and timely financial & Commercial Information
Candidate Requirements
- Able to use Xero
- Qualified
- Good Degree
- Great communication skills both written and Spoken
- Good understanding of educational Sector
