Robert Half is partnering with a dynamic Private Equity backed SME in Central London to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to lead their finance function.
Role - Financial Controller
Location - Central London, Hybrid working
Salary - £75,000 - £85,000 DOE + benefits

Our client is a privately owned consultancy specialising in project management and advisory services across commercial property, residential, social infrastructure, energy, and transport. The company are private equity backed and they have ambitious growth plans with a strong reputation for delivering high-impact projects.
The Role
As Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the finance function, overseeing all financial operations and reporting. This top-to-bottom role will manage one direct report and be part of a six-person finance team, ensuring financial stability and supporting strategic decision-making. This role will report directly to the Finance Director
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Ensure regulatory compliance and manage audit processes
- Provide strategic financial guidance to senior leadership
- Manage and develop a management accountant
- Support business expansion plans and private equity reporting requirements
About You
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is desirable but will look at qualified by experience with minimum 5+ years
- Experience with audit, management and financial accounting
- Strong technical finance, reporting, and forecasting expertise
- Ability to work autonomously while influencing senior stakeholders
- Good communication, proactive, happy to be hands on
- Experience in a private equity-backed business is advantageous
