Financial Controller

Location: Central LondonJob Type: Full-time, office based Monday-FridaySalary: £50,000 - £65,000 per annum

I am working exclusively with a prestigious building firm based in the heart of Central London who are seeking a Financial Controller to take sole responsibility for a busy finance function.

This is a standalone role in a friendly, supportive and professional environment. You will be solely responsible for all the transactional finance inputting, Payroll as well as Management Accounting and preparation of the year-end which is signed off by an external practise.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Input invoices and ensure timely supplier payments with appropriate approvals.
  • Oversee credit control and the preparation of financial information for accountants and external auditors.
  • Manage all day-to-day Bookkeeping processing accounts to Trail Balance, prepayments, accruals, and the preparation of management figures including profit & loss, balance sheet and variance to budget.
  • Develop annual budgets and revised forecasts.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and transfers, prepare tax returns and handle various enquiries from clients, banks & HMRC.
  • Implement new processes to enhance efficiency, such as paperless operations and full BACS payment systems.
  • Manage accurate weekly in-house payroll and payments for 35+ staff including sub-contractors, new employee entries and verifying CIS status with HMRC.
  • Prepare payroll records and submissions to revenue authorities.
  • Monitor and record staff sickness, absences, and holiday allowances in conjunction with our office manager.
  • Handle P11d reporting, staff expenses, mobile phones, and credit card management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Finance Manager or Controller, ideally within a small to medium-sized business
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Sage Line 50, Eque2 Construct & Payroll or at least exposure to a Construction/Building/Project environment is a big advantage
  • Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment and execute tasks in a timely, professional, and accurate manner.
