I am currently recruting Financial Controller for a six month contract. I am ideally looking for someone available to start in the next month. Initially it will be a six month contract, this could lead to a permanent role for the right individual.

Reporting to the CFO you will be responsible for all aspects of financial management ranging from accounting to analysis. As part of a fast-paced and growing company, you will need to be hands on to adapt to the changing needs of the business and operate with an entrepreneurial outlook.

Outline of Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning, Analysis and Cash Flow Management

  • Manage financial forecasting and budgets in line with operational goals
  • Develop and report KPIs that showcase performance to the senior leadership team (SLT) and board
  • Closely monitor and manage the company's cash flow to ensure liquidity and financial stability
  • Develop and implement strategies for effective cash management, including working capital optimisation and investment strategies

Accounting, Compliance and Risk Management

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements and accounting standards
  • Full responsibility of full day-to-day finance function, with support from outsourced bookkeeper
  • Ensure timely and accurate month/year-end close processes and reporting
  • Manage the preparation and coordination of annual audit
  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls and systems to enhance operational efficiency and safeguard company assets
  • Review and approve supplier payments
  • Manage customer billing and submission of invoices to customer portals
  • Manage the administration of bank accounts, credit cards and foreign exchange
  • Process monthly payroll & pensions sign off (external payroll company)
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards, including tax filings and statutory reporting
  • Act as the primary contact for external stakeholders such as banks, auditors and HMRC

Person Specification

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with commercial experience
  • Small company, high growth experience is essential
  • Prepared to be hands-on, but able to see the bigger picture
  • Process and detail orientated with ability to manage multiple work streams to tight deadlines with a high level of accuracy
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and month/year-end closing process
  • Able to communicate confidently and built rapport with key internal stakeholders
  • Credibility operating and interacting with C-suite and board level stakeholders
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • High level of Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software (strong preference for Xero)
