Seeking interim financial accountants to support with year-end accounts across the government and education sector.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and present accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with educational accounting standards and regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor and report on financial performance, highlighting any variances and providing recommendations for improvement.

Budget Management:

  • Collaborate with department heads to develop and manage budgets.
  • Ensure effective allocation and utilisation of financial resources.
  • Conduct regular budget reviews and provide insights to support decision-making.

Grant and Fund Management:

  • Oversee the financial management of grants and funding received from various sources.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting standards.
  • Prepare financial reports for grantors and funding agencies.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the institution's assets.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Fixed Asset Management:

  • Maintain an accurate Fixed Asset Register, ensuring proper classification, valuation, and depreciation of assets.
  • Conduct periodic physical verification of assets and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Work with procurement and facilities management to establish effective asset tracking mechanisms.

Financial Systems and Processes:

  • Enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial systems and processes.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of financial software and tools.
  • Provide training and support to staff on financial procedures and systems.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as required.
