Joining us in Public Sector Audit and Assurance

Our Public Sector Financial Reporting, and Accounting Support sits within the Public Sector Audit and Assurance practice. The team provides Accounting, Financial Reporting and Finance Function support to Public Sector organizations. providing support to non-audit clients.

Finance functions in the public sector continue to face increasing demands as they try to balance the financial stability of the organisation whilst having to deal with increased complexity, regulatory and accounting changes. These demands and complexities place increasing pressure on the capability and capacity of several finance teams.

Given these challenges, Grant Thornton is building and growing its team providing one off and capacity support around areas such as:

  • Accounting: Technical Accounting, Accounting standard implementation or one-off technical questions
  • Financial Reporting: A wide range of financial reporting support including, the production of financial statements, improving the efficiency of financial reporting and audit readiness.

This is an exciting time to join a growing team passionate about supporting public sector organisations deal with a variety of interesting, and complex financial, financial reporting and accounting challenges.

Joining the Agile Talent Community as an interim Financial Accountant, you will have the freedom to work on projects that you choose, whether full or part-time within Public Sector Financial Reporting, and Accounting Support and support our clients and internal teams on short to medium-term assignments.

Skills we are looking for

  • Professional Accounting qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA)
  • Financial Reporting and accounting experience either in the delivery of external audit to Local Authorities and Health bodies (such as NHS) or from within the public sector (Local Government or health) finance function.
  • Technically strong with IFRS and Code of Practice on Local Government Accounting (or) Government Accounting Manual (GAM)
  • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the team and our clients.
