We are on the lookout for a Financial Controller to join us for a 3-6 month interim contract. This vital role will lead our financial accounting team, delivering top-notch financial reporting services to both our strategic and operational leadership. You will also manage regulatory reporting, financial controls, policies and procedures, VAT and tax compliance, audit processes, rent and service charge management, asset oversight, as well as daily banking and transaction systems.
You will take a central role in our exciting continuous improvement initiative, collaborating with a dedicated team to implement positive changes in processes, systems, controls, and team culture, enhancing our overall efficiency. This initiative will build on our upcoming budgeting and reporting software to strengthen the financial services we provide to our business and clients.
Responsibilities
- Direct and motivate the Financial Accounting and Reporting team to enhance our accounting functions and improve financial management.
- Spearhead efforts to innovate and streamline financial accounting processes, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Work closely with the Finance Business Partner team to provide solid management accounting, effectively managing financial risks and ensuring compliance across the organisation.
- Oversee compliance assessments and control activities to guarantee accurate accounting practices.
- Ensure the timely delivery of financial reports, enabling clear communication of financial statements in line with agreed deadlines.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification (CCAB, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Significant experience in accounting, including direct accounting practices, VAT and CIS reporting, and the ability to prepare and analyse reports, budgets, and financial statements.
- Proven ability to engage and challenge senior stakeholders to support informed financial decision-making.
- Strong leadership skills with extensive experience in developing and guiding teams while assisting senior management.
- A strategic thinker with a track record of implementing change and enhancing accounting functions.
