Cedar is currently partnered with a PE-backed Retail business to secure an Interim Financial Controller, based in Central London. This is an interim role offering a £550 - £650 per day (Inside IR35) and the opportunity to shape the financial future of a fast-scaling, innovative business.

The CompanyThis PE-backed Retail business is experiencing significant commercial success, have a strong brand identity and loyal customer base, which combined with recent investment, is enabling them to grow their finance team and expand their operations.

The RoleAs Interim Financial Controller, you will:

  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements by overseeing financial reporting.
  • Lead month-end close processes, efficiently reconciling all transactions.
  • Maintain compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS by driving technical reporting standards.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements to improve financial operations.
  • Support FP&A activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver commercial financial insights that support business growth.
  • Manage and mentor the operational finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Your ProfileYou will ideally have:

  • A formal accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Experience in a fast-paced, start-up or scale-up environment, preferably within retail or manufacturing.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with expertise in UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • A proven track record of process improvement and financial controls.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across the business.
  • Availability to begin immediately or at short notice.
  • Previous experience within interim roles is desired but not essential.
  • The day rate of £550 - £650 per day represents a fair value, or logical increase on your previous salary or day rate.
