I am recruiting for an experienced Credit Controller to join a Global Retail organisation in London. This role will role will take ownership of all matters relating to international invoicing and collections, including management of the organisation's credit risk. Responsibilities will include:

  • Act as the main contact for international franchise partners for payment related queries,
  • including: ensure all payments are collected on time from all international partners, managing the ageing position of international debtor balances, reviewing credit limits regularly with the CFO,
  • Taking appropriate actions where necessary to minimise bad debt risk e.g. put international partners on shipment hold when necessary,
  • Provide regular updates on the international debtor balances with commentary to the Board and other internal teams
  • Drive process improvements, including automation, for key international franchise processes. Key projects for improvement include redefining the process for non-stock (fixtures and fittings) recharges to international partners, including alignment of accounting entries and balance sheet reconciliations needed
  • Calculate and issue royalty invoices on a monthly basis to all international franchise partners, performing checks on sales figures received from the partners and ensure any anomalies are followed up and resolved appropriately. Monitor invoices issued by the supply chain team for stock and non-stock and prepare any necessary paperwork for UK and local customs authorities
  • Take full responsibility for complying with withholding tax rules, and minimising the global tax bill in line with the appropriate double tax treaties. This includes ensuring all withholding tax certificates are obtained promptly from all relevant international partners and are booked into our accounting system to facilitate claiming tax credits from HMRC.
  • Maintain franchise and overseas subsidiaries ledger accounts, ensuring that all entries are properly recorded and reconciled for accuracy. This includes;
  • Tracking of all payments received from international partners
  • Ensuring they are recorded and matched accurately to invoices in our financial systems on a timely basis
  • Issuing statements to international partners on a monthly basis and resolving any related issues
  • Generate forecasts for expected income from international partners including for stock, non-stock, distribution charges and royalties to assist the international commercial finance manager

Candidate Specification:

  • Experience in credit control for an international business
  • A self-starter with excellent team working skills
  • Negotiating and influencing skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in successfully managing relationships with external customers
  • A strong commercial and proactive approach
  • Retail experience (Desirable)
  • Accounting experience to be able to book accounting entries and perform balance sheet reconciliations
  • Language skills. Arabic, Hindi and Urdu would be an advantage
