Investment Accountant – Financial Services

Opportunity for an accountant to join the growing Financial Operations team of a Financial Services group. Great opportunity for someone with accounting experience working with investments, life insurance or retail banking, who thrives in a fast-moving and complex work environment and eager to drive continuous improvements.Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily investment activities, including treasury management, unit pricing, and fund valuations.
  • Take a senior role by overseeing and reviewing reconciliations and ledger postings to ensure strong financial controls.
  • Enhance processes, such as implementing system upgrades, controls, and refining operations.
  • Take ownership of investment accounting and reporting, becoming an expert on unit-linked funds and retail investment products.
  • Oversee projects related to taxation, asset-liability, rebates, and intercompany accounting.
  • Explore opportunities for automating processes and integrating systems to reduce manual workload and improve efficiency.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to provide clarity on financial outcomes, management reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Essential Requirements:
  • Experience in investment accounting, with exposure to unit-linked funds and retail investment products.
  • Expertise in managing reconciliations, conducting variance analysis, and maintaining a controlled environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial and operational controls, with a proven ability to build and sustain robust frameworks.
Desirable Skills:
  • Strong interest in process optimization, automation, and using technologies like AI and Python to enhance operations.
  • Knowledge of post-trade operations, including corporate actions, asset servicing, and fund accounting.
  • Experience in sourcing prices from Bloomberg and evaluating complex portfolios, including derivatives.
