I am currently recruiting for an experienced Management Accountant to join an International Retail client of mine in West London. This role is an 18 month contract and you will be looking after the Nordics so being fluent in Danish, Swedish, Finnish or Norwegian is a distinct advantage. Please email your CV to

As a Management Accountant in our Nordics Finance team you will be part of a team of 3 responsible for the accounting of between 3-4 branches (countries) that are part of the Group.

Main duties & Responsibilities

  • Month/Quarter/year end:
    • Successfully prepare monthly accounts on time to the trial balance stage, including reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing month end journals, prepayments/accruals
    • Intercompany reconciliations between branches and other companies
    • Additional tasks and deadlines in relation to quarter/year end closure
  • Compliance/Tax
    • Work with external suppliers to ensure accurate VAT and CIT reporting and payments are made in each entity.
    • Have good accounting knowledge to take responsibility for accurately reporting tax payments in financial statements
  • Accounts Payable
    • Oversee overhaul of accounts payable process including contacting suppliers and liaising with sales team
    • Processing, coding, getting approval and preparing payments for supplier invoices
    • Managing the process for employee expenses and prepayments
    • Review and reconcile supplier balances
  • Bank
    • Daily review bank statement and ensure (in collaboration with credit controller) that all payments are booked correctly in accounting system
    • Prepare bank payments
  • Cash Flow
    • Preparation of Daily Treasury Report, forecasting cash-in/out in the coming 3 months
    • Utilise knowledge of vendors and payment terms to improve forecasting accuracy

Candidate Specification:

  • Part-qualified, or qualified by experience with experience of working in a management accountant role with strong accounting knowledge that can be applied to different entities
  • Experience working with SAP (ideally S/4HANA) is ideal as this is the system they use
  • 1 Nordic language skills is beneficial, preferably Swedish, Finnish, Danish or Norwegian (or Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian)
  • good English language skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to review data supplied to ensure accuracy of reporting
  • Proficient at picking up different systems quickly
  • Confident at communicating with others
  • Experience from accounting in any Nordic or Baltic country is beneficial
  • Intermediate IT skills and knowledge
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
