Position Overview:We are seeking a qualified or part-qualified Management Accountant to join a fast-paced, high-growth organisation. This role combines core management accounting responsibilities with elements of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). The successful candidate will play a key role in month-end and year-end processes, variance analysis, and providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Management Accounting

  • Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Oversee the year-end close process, including liaising with external auditors and preparing statutory financial statements.
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Perform detailed variance analysis to compare actual performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insightful commentary on key drivers.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic re-forecasts in collaboration with departmental heads.
  • Develop financial models to support scenario planning and strategic decision-making.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support business initiatives and investment decisions.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, including VAT returns and other statutory obligations.
  • Prepare quarterly balance sheet reconciliations with detailed commentary for management review.
  • Produce board-level financial reports highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends.

Process Improvement

  • Continuously review accounting practices to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Implement best practices for month-end and year-end processes to enhance accuracy and reduce timelines.
  • Contribute to the development of financial systems and tools for improved reporting capabilities.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role within a high-growth environment.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including month-end/year-end processes.
  • Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., ERP software) and advanced Excel skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with FP&A tools or financial modelling software.
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced or scale-up environment.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Strong communication skills to present financial insights to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
