Position Overview:We are seeking a qualified or part-qualified Management Accountant to join a fast-paced, high-growth organisation. This role combines core management accounting responsibilities with elements of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). The successful candidate will play a key role in month-end and year-end processes, variance analysis, and providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounting
- Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
- Oversee the year-end close process, including liaising with external auditors and preparing statutory financial statements.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Perform detailed variance analysis to compare actual performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insightful commentary on key drivers.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic re-forecasts in collaboration with departmental heads.
- Develop financial models to support scenario planning and strategic decision-making.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support business initiatives and investment decisions.
Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, including VAT returns and other statutory obligations.
- Prepare quarterly balance sheet reconciliations with detailed commentary for management review.
- Produce board-level financial reports highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends.
Process Improvement
- Continuously review accounting practices to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Implement best practices for month-end and year-end processes to enhance accuracy and reduce timelines.
- Contribute to the development of financial systems and tools for improved reporting capabilities.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential:
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role within a high-growth environment.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including month-end/year-end processes.
- Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., ERP software) and advanced Excel skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with FP&A tools or financial modelling software.
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced or scale-up environment.
