Part-Qualified Management Accountant

We are seeking a Part-Qualified Management Accountant to join our Finance Department. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for growth and development in management accounting, ideal for an ambitious individual working towards a professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this position is crucial for supporting financial reporting and maintaining the integrity of the fixed asset register.

Day-to-day of the role:

Management Accounting:

  • Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
  • Perform variance analysis and contribute to commentary on financial performance.
  • Conduct cost analysis and provide insights into profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Assist in preparing financial summaries to aid decision-making by senior management.

Fixed Asset Management:

  • Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register, ensuring accuracy in records of additions, disposals, and transfers.
  • Prepare monthly depreciation and hire purchase schedules for management accounts.
  • Monitor and report on capital expenditure projects, ensuring budget compliance.
  • Review and improve processes for managing and reporting fixed assets.

Month-End and Year-End Processes:

  • Contribute to month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations and journal postings.
  • Provide data for audits, focusing on fixed asset disclosures and compliance with regulations.

Systems and Processes:

  • Assist in enhancing financial systems and processes to ensure accurate data management.

Compliance and Internal Controls:

  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, accounting standards, and audit requirements.
  • Strengthen controls around fixed asset management to mitigate risks.

Ad-Hoc Support:

  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and support for special projects as directed by senior finance staff.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Actively studying towards a recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
  • Previous experience in a finance role, with exposure to management accounting and/or fixed asset management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial software.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with accounting systems such as Access or Sage.
  • Knowledge of IFRS/GAAP standards.
