Part time Accountant | Health & Wellness Food Scaleup | Remote

Harmonic is excited to be on the lookout for a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join a scaleup brand in the food space. We're a fast-growing plant-based food brand that started from a kitchen table and have since expanded into one of the UK's leading healthy food companies. With their products now stocked nationwide in major retailers like Waitrose, Tesco, and Sainsbury's. The ideal candidate will have experience in grocery retail finance.

This role offers fantastic autonomy, working closely with our Founders and Head of Operations, and is perfect for someone passionate about working in an evolving SME environment. If you thrive in fast-paced settings and are confident in maintaining robust financial records, this role is for you. The role is based remotely with 1-2 days in a month spent in the office for reviews and a monthly update meeting.

The Role:

  • Manage the end-to-end sales cycle, ensuring that all sales invoices are processed, approved, and reconciled accurately.
  • Handle the input and processing of purchase invoices, ensuring they are correctly allocated and reconciled with sales invoices.
  • Regularly check customer balances, chase late payments, and resolve invoice disputes in collaboration with our finance partners.
  • Process monthly payroll, statutory payments, and pension submissions.
  • Prepare and present monthly management reports up to trial balance, including bank reconciliations, general ledger review, and accounts payable/receivable analysis.
  • Manage VAT returns, PAYE, and assist with R&D tax credits, ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Prepare the year-end accounts and audits, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to provide accurate bookkeeping records and external advisors.

What our client would like to see (essential):

  • Confident in overseeing the sales and purchase cycles, handling payroll, and preparing monthly financial reports.
  • Strong experience using Xero, including reconciling accounts, posting entries, and managing adjustments.
  • A solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles and the ability to ensure accuracy in all financial records.

What we would like to see (non-essential):

  • AAT qualified or PQ ACCA/CIMA or ACA
  • Experience within a challenger brand or scaleup

Salary & Benefits:
