About the Role:

Hackney Council is seeking a Pensions Project Accountant to support the pension fund accounts closure and reconciliations process. This is a temporary role to assist with a peak in workload, and the successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of pension fund management activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the closure of pension fund accounts and perform reconciliation tasks.
  • Support with reconciling local government pension scheme (LGPS) fund manager/custodian records.
  • Handle pension fund sales/purchases/cash reconciliation.
  • Manage the reconciliation of LGPS lump sums, pensions paid, transfers in and out.
  • Conduct pension fund bank account reconciliations.
Essential Experience:
  • Previous experience working within a local government setting.
  • Hands-on experience working with pensions, particularly in a local government pension scheme (LGPS).
  • Proficiency with pension fund account closures and related reconciliations.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience using the Cedare5 financial system (desirable but not essential).
Key Requirements:
  • Must have previous experience working within a council or local government environment.
  • Experience in working with pensions and handling pension fund reconciliation tasks.
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
