Global Accounting Network are currently partnered exclusively with a private-equity backed Telecoms business to recruit for a newly created Revenue Accountant job, adding to a well-established and high-performing group finance function. Reporting into the Group Finance Director, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant to join a stable and growing business who partner with some of the biggest names in their industry worldwide and to increase their commercial exposure, business partnering with sales and operations closely to enhance revenue and drive performance.
Duties in this Revenue Accountant job will include revenue recognition and ensuring that revenue is recognised in accordance with relevant accounting standards, responsibility for deferred and accrued income, customer invoicing (in liaison with sales operations), supporting the Receivables Accountant to optimise cash collections, weekly project reviews with the project managers, audit support, preparing IFRS15 revenue recognition templates for new customer contracts, account reconciliations, financial reporting, month-end close including journal entries and review of revenue accounts, compliance with internal controls and company policies and process improvements. Additionally the role will involve collaborating with other teams including sales, finance and operations, system management for revenue tracking and reporting, maintaining the revenue forecast, calculating sales commissions, providing profitability analysis, supporting with the annual budgeting and forecasting process, providing ad-hoc analysis, highlighting variances, risks and opportunities for improvement to financial results.
The ideal candidate for this Revenue Accountant job will have previous experience gained in a revenue focussed role, will have strong analytical skills and a good commercial awareness. This could suit somebody who is part-qualified (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), qualified by experience or potentially a newly qualified accountant. Proven experience applying IFRS15 revenue recognition is essential as is a hands-on attitude and excellent organisation skills. A strong proficiency with accounting software and Excel is also required as are strong communication and interpersonal skills.
