We are seeking a dedicated Operations/Finance Officer to join our team and support the Business Manager in managing the school’s financial processes. This role is ideal for someone who is meticulous, has a strong understanding of financial operations within an educational setting, and is capable of handling sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.  There will also be some operational duties involved. 

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Undertake financial processes under the guidance of the Business Manager.
  • Input monthly journals and bank statements for accurate bank reconciliation.
  • Monitor finance inputs, process invoices, manage direct debits, and BACS payments.
  • Support school fund trips and events with payment entries.
  • Investigate Aged Creditors and Debtors, reconcile supplier statements, and resolve queries.
  • Process staff expenses and prepare BACS payments.
  • Reconcile government grants monthly, including ESFA GAG, Pupil Premium, and Pupil Premium Plus.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and year-end audits.
  • Maintain and archive finance records and files.
  • Prepare and submit VAT claims.
  • Collaborate on payroll preparation and respond to staff payroll queries.
  • Manage financial assistance claims and invoice processing.
  • Support the Business Manager with HR and operational administrative tasks.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in financial administration, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines and targets.
  • Knowledge of financial procedures and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in handling sensitive information and ensuring data protection.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to support the school’s ethos and aims.
  • Willingness to participate in relevant meetings, training, and professional development.

Location:  Brentford

Hours:  Can be flexible but must be within standard office Monday to Friday.  Office based only
