Our client is a well-established and dynamic accountancy firm with a strong reputation for providing high-quality financial services to a diverse client base. They are looking for a detail-oriented Semi-Senior Accountant is required to assist with bookkeeping, VAT returns, and preparation of statutory and management accounts for their client base. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience, have completed their AAT qualification and/or commenced ACCA studies, and be proficient in accounting software. In return, they offer up to £35,000, study support for those pursuing ACCA and hybrid working.
Semi Senior Accountant Job Overview- Bookkeeping for clients, both in-house and at client premises, including transaction processing, bank reconciliations, and ledger management.
- Preparation and completion of VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Compilation of monthly or quarterly management accounts in line with client specifications, using accounting software or spreadsheets.
- Preparation of statutory, year-end, and rental accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships, following internal procedures.
- Utilisation of CCH Central Software for account production and compliance with firm standards.
- Maintaining accurate time records for each client assignment, ensuring work is completed within budget.
- Participation in team meetings, training sessions, and CPD updates to stay current with industry developments.
- Supporting ad-hoc accounting tasks as required to ensure efficient department operations.
- Minimum of two to three years' relevant experience in bookkeeping, VAT returns, and accounts preparation.
- AAT qualification completed and/or ACCA studies commenced.
- Strong understanding of double-entry accounting principles.
- Self-motivated with excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, SAGE, and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Experience with bookkeeping for group companies desirable
- Familiarity with service charge accounts desirable
- Knowledge of CCH software and cloud-based accounting tools like Dext and Hubdoc desirable
- Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
- Working Hours: 9am- 5pm
- Holiday Package: 25 days + 8BH
- Study support package - 2 weeks per exam.
