Role Responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Producing statutory accounts, consolidated accounts, and management accounts for a variety of clients, including UK companies and partnerships
  • Preparing corporate and personal tax computations, VAT returns, and payroll processing
  • Providing technical support and guidance to staff within the accounting services team
  • Ensuring clients are aware of regulatory and accounting changes, offering proactive advice and support
  • Assisting Directors in monitoring and managing client work, ensuring timely completion by the accounting services team
  • Developing and implementing improved working processes, ensuring all documentation meets quality assurance levels
  • Designing and implementing new accounting systems for clients, including providing training for client staff
  • Preparing and presenting client management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cashflows as required
  • Networking and business development, helping to expand the firm’s SME department by establishing new business connections
  • Providing expertise in VAT and CIS technical matters, ensuring compliance and offering advisory services

Candidate Requirements
  • ACA or ACCA qualification (or part-qualified with strong experience)
  • Previous experience working in a UK accountancy practice, handling a mix of accounts, tax, and VAT compliance
  • Experience producing full sets of accounts and preparing tax computations
  • Strong technical expertise in VAT and CIS
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to advise clients on financial matters
  • Strong client management skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships
  • A proactive and team-focused approach, with experience mentoring junior staff
