We’re working with a prestigious London-based institution to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant who will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial integrity of a complex, multi-entity organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a high-visibility role within a supportive, forward-thinking finance team.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Senior Financial Accountant, you'll lead the preparation of annual statutory accounts across several entities including trading subsidiaries and charitable trusts, ensuring full compliance with UK GAAP, Charity SORP, and HE SORP. Working closely with internal and external auditors, you’ll take ownership of the audit cycle and be a key point of contact during year-end.
You’ll also manage the financial reporting of a significant Trust Fund and associated investments, collaborating with external administrators and internal stakeholders to ensure clarity, compliance, and long-term planning. A keen eye for balance sheet integrity and proactive financial governance will be crucial.
This role will also give you the opportunity to guide and mentor an Assistant Financial Accountant Apprentice, making it ideal for someone who enjoys leadership as well as hands-on technical work.
What We’re Looking For

You’re a CCAB-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with a strong grounding in financial reporting, audit, and compliance.

You bring prior experience from the higher education or wider public sector, and you understand the nuances of charity accounting and the expectations of public accountability.

You’ve worked with large, complex ERP systems such as Unit4 Business World or Oracle, and you're confident producing accurate financial reports under pressure.

You have strong analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

You’re a natural communicator who can build strong relationships with auditors, stakeholders, and junior staff alike.
Experience with audit (either in-house or from an audit firm), investment or trust reporting, or property accounting would be highly beneficial.
