Service Charge Accountant

Role Overview

A role for a Service Charge Accountant has become available in our service charge team based in our London office. The role is to work within the service charge accounts team, preparing and finalising the reconciliations of internally certified service charge accounts to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Point of contact for Client queries, providing support and advice where necessary• Input service charge budgets onto accounting systems • Produce service charge income/expenditure reports ready for year-end audit • Liaise with external accountants to resolve queries • Take ownership for ensuring the service charge accounts are completed within the deadline • Assist Centre managers, surveyors and other teams to resolve queries • Complete journals, accruals & prepayments • Carry out mid-year reviews liaising with the site team, property managers etc • Monthly/Quarterly budget v actual reviews• Monitor cash balances and cashflow forecast• Complete tenant recharges and reconciling these • Reconcile balancing year end charges/credits due • Create statement of funds • Carry out Balance Sheet reviews and clearing these items • Reconcile VAT• Complete service charge handovers following sale and take on positions following purchase 

Key Skills

• Experience in Service charge Accounting• Experience in Property Management systems• Knowledge in NRLS/CIS & VAT• Full understanding of TB reporting/balance sheet reconciliation• Ensuring adhesion to RICS regulations• Focussed: commits to challenging goals and delivers consistently against these• Continuous improvement: delivers efficiency in addition to effectiveness

The mixed use accounts team has 34 members. We specialise in working on portfolios consisting of both residential and commercial properties and are committed to delivering a best in class service which we achieve by working in a focussed and team centric environment.
