Key Responsibilities:

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the Planning Manager in delivering a comprehensive and commercially viable short- and long-term financial plan. Oversee the monthly restaurant reforecasting process, working closely with Finance Business Partners.
  • Sales Budgets and Forecasts: Assist in the preparation of company sales budgets and forecasts, ensuring all relevant stakeholder inputs are considered and accurately recorded in the system.
  • P&L Ownership: Take responsibility for specific line items on the P&L, becoming the subject matter expert to provide reliable data and offer guidance on accounting methods.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert technical advice on financial processes such as budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, particularly in relation to the system. Lead improvements in key reporting areas and manage complex deliverables like the business incentive scheme.
  • System Utilisation: Proactively support and train finance team members to maximize the efficiency and output from financial systems. Reconcile data across systems to ensure accurate and consistent financial reporting.
  • Reporting Improvements: Assist with monthly P&L flash reporting and dashboard creation. Evaluate current management reporting processes, recommending and implementing improvements using in-depth system knowledge.
  • System Optimisation: Become a key user of the Budgeting and Forecasting system. Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes and enhance reporting efficiency's through better use of the system.
  • Continuous Improvement: Use accounting expertise and system knowledge to ensure accurate production of financial statements. Strengthen communication with Group stakeholders and drive improvements in regular submissions, periodic reporting, and business planning.

About You:

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • A strong commitment to becoming an expert in financial systems and processes.
  • A professional accounting qualification, such as CIMA, ACA, or ACCA, with at least one year of post-qualification experience.
  • While not essential, experience working in a multi-site environment within hospitality or retail would be advantageous.
  • Previous involvement in system projects or experience with system transitions would be beneficial.
  • Solid knowledge of producing financial reports, reconciliations, P&Ls, and other key financial documents.
  • Self-driven and highly organised, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and manage workload independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of effectively interacting with both internal and external stakeholders and serving as a role model within the finance team.
  • Ability to clearly explain and interpret financial data for various audiences.
  • A proactive learner, open to improving routine processes and adopting new approaches.
  • Adaptable and able to thrive in a constantly changing environment.
